The Anti-Encroachment Branch of the Sukkur Municipal Corporation (SMC), under the supervision of Municipal Commissioner Pir Wahid Bakhsh, continued its city-wide campaign against illegal encroachments on Friday. During the operation, officials removed an unauthorised Lunda Bazaar (flea market) that had been set up on government land within the Municipal Jinnah Stadium premises. The removal involved dismantling all stalls, carts, and structures located on the site. Encroachers present during the operation were warned against future violations of the law. The operation was led by Director of Anti-Encroachment Bilawal Korai, with support from inspectors Adnan Memon, Sohail Altaf Sheikh, Zaheer Memon, and Kamran Memon. The site was cleared efficiently and that public access to the stadium remained unobstructed. Municipal Commissioner Pir Wahid Bakhsh told reporters that public facilities like Jinnah Stadium are intended for recreational activities and that any illegal occupation of such spaces violates both the law and public interest. He emphasized that the administration is committed to protecting government land, maintaining city aesthetics, ensuring public convenience, and facilitating smooth traffic flow. The Sukkur Municipal Corporation stated that similar enforcement operations will continue across the city to remove illegal encroachments and preserve public property. Citizens were urged to cooperate with authorities and adhere to legal regulations to help maintain an organised and orderly urban environment. The campaign is part of the SMC’s broader effort to enforce land-use regulations, protect government property, and promote structured urban development in Sukkur.

The TDF MagnifiScience Centre, on the other hand, represents a modern and interactive approach to education. Established as Pakistan’s first contemporary science centre, it features hands-on exhibits designed to spark curiosity and encourage scientific thinking among children, students, and families. The centre covers a wide range of themes including science, technology, nature, and human life, and has become a popular destination for school visits and public learning programmes. According to officials, the museum status is expected to enhance institutional capacity, improve public access, and strengthen educational programming at both venues. It may also support future collaborations, exhibitions, and outreach initiatives aimed at expanding science education and cultural awareness across Sindh. The Dawood Foundation, which operates both institutions, welcomed the recognition and reiterated its commitment to making learning engaging, inclusive, and accessible. Observers note that this move reflects a broader provincial focus on safeguarding heritage spaces while encouraging innovation in education beyond formal classrooms. With this designation, both TDF Ghar and the TDF MagnifiScience Centre are set to play an even more significant role in Karachi’s civic and cultural life, serving as museums that bridge history, science, and community learning in a rapidly growing metropolis.

The Sindh cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, has approved a landmark initiative to modernise the province’s land management system. The decision marks a major step toward digitising all land records across Sindh through the use of contemporary technology intended to enhance transparency, security and public access.

Officials briefed the cabinet that the traditional land record system has long been burdened with outdated procedures, bureaucratic delays and a high risk of manipulation. According to the briefing, citizens frequently face significant obstacles in accessing ownership information, while disputes and fraudulent documentation remain persistent challenges. The new digital model aims to provide direct and reliable access for every landowner through a central online platform.

Under the approved plan, the Board of Revenue Sindh will supervise the entire transformation process. The task of developing the digital system, including software architecture, data base design and implementation, has been assigned to Sukkur IBA University. The institution has been selected for its technical capacity and its experience in designing large scale information systems.

Government representatives stated that the digital platform will consolidate all essential information, including land titles, ownership verification, mutation records, revenue data and details of both public and private land. By bringing this information together within a single integrated system, the initiative aims to curb corruption, reduce opportunities for forgery and ensure that illegal or manipulated transactions can be identified more easily.

The Sindh government described the project as a decisive move toward comprehensive land management reform and a major step in establishing a modern and reliable framework for public service delivery.
