Waqf Properties vs Trust Properties
Did you know that Waqf properties and Trust properties are not the same?
Many people confuse them, but they are completely different in purpose and rules.
Waqf properties are governed by Islamic principles. They are permanently dedicated for public or charitable purposes like mosques, schools, or orphanages. Once a property is made Waqf, it can never be sold or reclaimed. It is managed by a caretaker but stays for the original purpose forever.
Trust properties follow legal agreements. These are flexible and can be created for families, individuals, or organizations. A trustee manages the property, but the purpose can change or even end based on the trust agreement.
So, remember: Waqf is permanent and irrevocable, while Trust is flexible and adaptable.
