He served as the Chief Editor of the country's first property newspaper, Property Ka Akhbar "PEELA," for 10 years. Before venturing into real estate, he successfully ran his advertising agency. Additionally, Syed Shayan has contributed to prominent newspapers in Pakistan, including Jang, Nawai Waqt, and Pakistan Times.

During his student days, Syed Shayan established the Ravians Quiz Society at Government College Lahore and served as its founding president. The Ravians Quiz Society is the leading organization in Pakistan dedicated to fostering a passion for knowledge among students. Over the years, it has benefited countless students, providing them with invaluable learning opportunities.

He currently heads the Syed Shayan Institute for Real Estate Research in Islamabad (SIRER). He is actively preparing for the launch of the real estate research portal 'SyedShayan.com' and the website portal 'Jaidad Online.'

Syed Shayan is deeply concerned about the irregularities in private housing societies and housing authorities within Pakistan's real estate sector. He is involved in various programs aimed at providing better community living for the general public. He closely monitors property-related legislation in government institutions to protect residents of the country and overseas Pakistanis from potential difficulties or fraud. He has long advocated for the establishment of the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) in Pakistan.

One of his companies, Propertica Private Limited, specializes in real estate portfolio management and oversees the real estate portfolios of some of Pakistan’s leading commercial and industrial concerns. The company’s headquarters are located in Main Gulberg, Lahore, with regional offices in Islamabad and Karachi. Its services also extend to the UAE and the UK.
