Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Thursday directed concerned authorities to accelerate progress on the Karachi K-IV water supply project, emphasizing the need for extra caution in densely populated areas where existing utility lines, including electricity, gas, and telecom, are present.
Officials said the K-IV project, designed to augment Karachi’s water supply system and meet the growing demand of the city’s population, has reached critical phases where urban construction intersects with residential neighborhoods. The Chief Minister instructed engineers and project managers to adopt advanced monitoring and safety measures to prevent disruption of services and ensure minimal inconvenience to citizens.
CM Shah also highlighted the importance of timely completion of the project, stressing that it is essential for addressing Karachi’s water shortage issues and supporting the city’s overall civic infrastructure. Authorities were asked to coordinate with utility companies, local administrations, and law enforcement agencies to ensure smooth execution.
The Chief Minister reiterated the provincial government’s commitment to providing a safe and reliable water supply to all residents, while ensuring that construction and operational activities are carried out with maximum safety, efficiency, and public convenience.
Officials confirmed that additional resources and technical teams would be deployed to expedite the project and maintain strict oversight, particularly in areas with high population density and complex utility networks.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has approved the construction of a new bridge over the Indus River connecting Sukkur and Rohri, a move expected to significantly improve regional connectivity and ease traffic congestion on existing routes.
The approval was granted during the 51st meeting of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Policy Board, chaired by the chief minister. The meeting also endorsed key decisions aimed at promoting development projects and enhancing investment opportunities across the province.
During the session, the chief minister directed authorities to ensure that the Bhutto Expressway is fully operational by April 2026, with the objective of providing improved commuting facilities to the public.
The meeting further approved policy measures to make Sindh’s PPP framework more transparent and investor-friendly. It was decided that abnormal bids would be strictly scrutinized, and any bids exceeding or falling below the estimated cost by 15 percent would be rejected to maintain transparency and quality standards.
Officials stated that the construction of the new bridge would not only strengthen intercity connectivity but also boost commercial and economic activities, while reducing traffic-related challenges and improving overall public convenience.

Archaeologists have discovered submerged ruins in the Indus Delta during Sindh’s first-ever marine archaeology exploration, marking a significant breakthrough in the province’s historical research, officials said.
According to members of the exploration team, the findings include a mound and structural remains, which are believed to be part of an ancient settlement or historical structure now lying beneath water.
