Work on various development projects aimed at improving urban infrastructure is progressing rapidly under the Lahore Development Programme. The initiative is being carried out in line with the vision of the Chief Minister of Punjab to modernize basic civic facilities in the city.
A weekly review meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Muhammad Ali Ijaz was held, during which the Metropolitan Corporation Lahore and WASA presented their performance reports. It was informed in the meeting that out of 8,780 streets and roads included in Phase-II of the programme, work on 5,057 has already been completed.
Furthermore, under Phase-II, 290 kilometers of sewerage lines and 258 kilometers of water supply lines have also been laid, which is expected to significantly improve the provision of basic services to citizens.
During the meeting, concerned departments were directed to further accelerate the pace of ongoing projects and ensure their timely and quality completion. Authorities were also instructed to complete the installation of street lights within the stipulated timeframe.
Officials also directed the Metropolitan Corporation Lahore to immediately begin surface work on 640 streets that have been handed over, while stressing the need to further strengthen the third-party validation process of the programme.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that the Lahore Development Programme will play a key role in providing modern facilities to citizens and improving the city’s infrastructure.

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) will conduct a balloting for residential and commercial plots on May 18 at the LDA Sports Complex in Johar Town. These plots are being offered on easy installments spanning three years. The submission of applications has started and will continue until May 11.
According to details, four-marla commercial plots are available in the “Business Bay” block of LDA City at a price of Rs. 6.5 million per marla. In Johar Town, commercial plots are available in M, N, and F1 blocks at Rs. 4.5 million per marla.
Similarly, 311 commercial plots are available for balloting in the Sabzi Mandi and Fruit Mandi of Allama Iqbal Town, with a fixed price of Rs. 5.85 million per marla.
Residential plots are also available in the R1 block of Johar Town at Rs. 6.5 million per marla, while plots in D Block Mohlanwal are priced at Rs. 1.8 million per marla.
It is worth mentioning that the application fee ranges from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000 and is non-refundable.

Chaudhry Tauqeer Asif, Director Information of the DHA Estate Agents Association Lahore, has stated that it has come to notice that some unregistered individuals and those involved in fraudulent activities are spreading false news in the market regarding DHA Phase 10 installment files.
These elements are trying to extract money from people and obtain clients’ data under false pretenses, which is both unethical and illegal.
He clarified that the Defence Housing Authority Lahore has not yet made any official announcement regarding installment files for Phase 10.
Whenever there is any development in this regard, it will be formally communicated through DHA’s official platforms and the association, he told to ReNews.
He further urged all members to properly inform their clients about the situation and strictly advise them against trusting unverified information or making payments to unauthorized individuals.
